Seven Things

I've always disliked the idea of doing something because everyone else is doing it, doing something because it comes to you as a chain etc, but alas I was tagged and didn't even realize it, thanks Brian.  Regardless here are my seven things about myself:

  1. I'm a dual citizen, yes I grew up in Germany and am a German National (due to my German mother) but I was also born in Houston, TX to my American Father which brings us to number 2.
  2. I have seperated myself from most of my immediate family (haven't talked to my dad in almost a year now) due to the continuous drama and bickering that always follows my interactions with them.
  3. I have no formal secondary education and it took me 7 years to migrate from doing contract design work to seriously learning how to program in my core language (PHP).
  4. I was a single father for quite a while, at least until Valerie and I started seriously dating and she had moved in with me, which means:
  5. I have a three year old son whom I didn't know existed until I was served with Child Support papers when he was 5 months old (his mother "lost" my contact information as we weren't in a steady relationship)
  6. I get obsesive about my hobbies and I really don't have that many, over the last year especially I've focused down to very few things which at the moment revolve around PHP in the past they evolved around other technology topics such as Cell Phones and PDA's, Encryption, and Linux however I did have some other hobbies like riding ATV's (which oddly enough was tied to another job:)
  7. During the 7 years that I migrated from doing frontend design I held a variety of jobs as primary income sources while I was consulting at night and over the weekend these included Clothing Inspector for Lee Jeans, Inventory Control for Wal-Mart, Tech Support for a Cable Company in Alaska, and my favorite past job: Land Surveyor's Aide for Georgia Power (we did a lot of traveling, had a lot of fun, rode ATV's, and other wildness.)

My Seven:

  • Ed Finkler - Because you really interest me, you seem so down to earth when we met at |Works but yet Spaz seems so refined.
  • John Chapin - $boss1 Because we just started working together and there are still a lot of things I don't know about you.
  • Sean Crystal - $boss2 same as John.
  • Jeremi Bergman - Because you seem so focused on your code and alas the amount of time we spent together at eGov so far has been short it'd be interesting to know more about you.
  • Luke Wilkins - New acquaintance and you will probably be the only one really helping me setup anything for the upcoming Knoxville PHP and Python User Group.
  • Luke Welling - Because the book you and Laura wrote got me started on PHP back in 01 and I've never forgotten it.
  • Ligaya Turmelle - I'm in awe with the dedication it must take to have a full time job, support endless end users, and be actively involved in a growing community.
